As part of their regular Wednesdays for the World prayer service, the Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters will be joining the nationwide Campaign Nonviolence to protest racism, war, poverty, and environmental destruction. During this national event there will be 1,000 nonviolent actions taking place in all 50 states from September 16 to 24.
The OLVM Sisters invite all to join their Campaign Nonviolence service, which will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 20, in the Archbishop Noll Memorial Chapel on the Victory Noll campus at 1900 W. Park Drive in Huntington.
This unprecedented campaign calls for nonviolent action and concrete policy shifts to end the culture of violence and injustice, and begin peacemaking. Through Campaign Nonviolence, separate movements are coming together to build a just, peaceful, and sustainable world.
“Americans want a positive vision of hope and peace for our country and the world,” said the Rev. John Dear, co-founder of Campaign Nonviolence, nationally known peace activist, author of 35 books, and Nobel Peace Prize nominee. “During this week of nonviolent actions, we are mobilizing local grassroots rallies to speak out against violence, greed, and war. To be true the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and insist on resolving conflicts nonviolently at home and abroad.”
Campaign Nonviolence is a burgeoning grassroots movement launched September 2014, with over 230 nonviolent actions held in every state of the nation. The following year, 370 actions took place. In 2016, these nonviolent actions grew to 760.
