Standing with those who welcome the stranger

Sr. Donna Markham, OP, President and CEO of Catholic Chairites Nationally, and Sr. Norma Pimental, Executive Direct of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valle and Director of the Respite Center there, are both receiving very hateful and ugly calls and emails purportedly from Catholics, for their work on behalf of immigrants and refugees at our southern borders. Both Sisters have said they have no intention of stopping this ministry in fidelity to the Gospel. In fact Women Religious across this country will continue to answer God's call to walk with those seeking safety and security for their families and we will continue to heed the command to feed the hungry and welcome the stranger. (Matthew 25) We are especially grateful that two of our Sisters, Clarita Trujillo and Lucille Martinez, answered the call to minister on the El Paso border at the height of border crossings in that area.
