Sr. Monica Haines, OLVM
SISTER MONICA HAINES, OLVM, 90, died on Monday, November 23, 2020, at Saint Anne Community at Victory Noll, Huntington, IN.
Sister Monica was born in Goshen, Indiana on June 23, 1930, to Samuel Haines and Agnes (Grise) Haines. She is survived by three sisters, Sister Beatrice Haines, OLVM, Dorothy Rassi and Theresa Copenhaver, all residing in Huntington, Indiana. Many nieces and nephews along with her Victory Noll Sisters with whom she shared live and community for 72 years also survive Sister Monica.
One brother, Samuel Haines, Jr., precedes her in death.
Sister Monica entered the Congregation of Our Lady of Victory Missionary Sisters on October 27, 1948, and made first vows on August 5, 1951. She served in the missions in California, Michigan, New Mexico, Texas, Illinois, and Indiana. Sister returned to Victory Noll in 2005 to minister to the sisters in Holy Family Health Care as a Personal Needs Assistant. She fully retired to a ministry of prayer and presence in 2009, although she continued to be a support to the sisters.
