Taize Prayer Services
7:00 p.m.
January 17, February 21, March 20,
April 17, May 15

Program Overview

The service, used by the community in Taize, France, is based on an ancient style found in the church, with songs, Psalms, a Gospel text, silence and prayers of intercession. In Taize, people young and old gather to pray with the brothers for reconciliation and peace between divided Christians and between separated peoples. From its beginning, the Taize community has been inspired by two aims: to live in communion with God through prayer and to be a leaven of peace and trust in the midst of the human family.
All welcome. No registration required.
Services last approximately 1 hour
Cost: The gift of yourself to God in prayer

Thursdays from
9 to 11 a.m. and

Matthew 25 Project

Program Overview

"I assure you, as often as you did it for one of my least, you did it for me."
Matthew 25:40

Starting September 1, each Thursday will be a Matthew 25 day where you can live the Gospel by making hats and blankets for those in need. Last year's blanket blitz was such a success that we're upping our goal this year to 125-150 blankets and hats of all shapes and colors to distribute through local agencies.
Please join us for fellowship and service. If anyone has any yarn sitting in a corner we'll be happy to take it off your hands! Donations toward the materials for the blanket blitz and happy hats also appreciated!

Tuesdays during Lent

Lenten Soup and Bread Book Study

Noon to 1 p.m. each day
February 28, March 6, March 13, March 20, March 27 & April 3

Program Overview
Join Sue Wilhelm for a bowl of soup, some bread and a book study that might feed your soul during Lent. We will be using Mary Jo Leddy's book "The Other Face of God." for our study. Website Spirituality and Practice has this review:

"In this soul-searching book, Leddy makes a convincing case that today's refugees are serving as urban spiritual teachers. She calls them "the other face of God."

"The Other Face of God" is a timely paperback that speaks to the warps in our society when borders are becoming walls and strangers, like the one in the biblical parable of the Good Samaritan, are being ignored or harassed. For Leddy the church must stand apart from the larger culture and heed the call of the newcomers and learn from them what we have forgotten about justice, human rights, respect, and inclusivity.
Mary Jo Leddy is the founder of Romero House in Toronto. She has a Ph.D. in Philosophy and serves as a senior fellow at Massy College, University of Toronto. Her many books include "Radical Gratitude."

Helpful Explanations

Spiritual direction is the art of Christian listening carried out in the context of a one-to-one relationship for the purpose of being attentive and responsive to the movement of God’s presence, inviting one into a deeper relationship with God.
Private retreat is time and space apart for persons who search and hunger for deeper and quieter prayer, desiring to know God more personally and to spend time with Him.
Directed retreat is a private retreat as described above, with the assistance of a spiritual director.
