Monthly Reflection
by Sister Martha Wordeman

December 2009

The excitement and and joy of Christmas, which we feel deep inside ourselves is due to the marvelous thing that has occurred: God has become present in the cosmos as one of its creation. Because God now partakes of our humanity, Jesus shares our joys and sorrows and gives us a new perspective on life. People are able to see life as worthwhile. Many risk their lives, so that others may live — for example, in fires, floods, earthquakes, wars and terrorist attacks.
Parents sacrifice themselves to give their children the best. Aging parents are loved, respected and cared for in their home (when possible).
“Death has lost its sting,” as St. Paul tells us, and we look forward to the day when we enter the bliss of which Jesus says “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, nor can anyone imagine the the good things that God has prepared for those who love.”
We want to share our joy by making children, family, friends, the sick, and the poor happy. We give them gifts and we try to brighten the world with lights, ribbons, music, and re-enacting the Christmas Story. Football games, dinners, travel — everyone feels the sense of heightened awareness and new pulse to life.
    Let the Christmas joy begin!
    BLESSED CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

Congar Institute
for Ministry Development

We want to minister to the culturally diverse Catholic population of this country, proclaiming Jesus Christ through evangelization, education and/or Christian formation. We would like to offer a solid Catholic teaching and ministries that speak to the needs of the faith communities, empowering the Laity, dedicating our prayer and ministry to the proclamation of God's Kingdom.
That is why we have become part of a network of religious communities collaborating to assist home mission dioceses in their efforts to develop lay leadership and ministry. This is an initiative of the Home Missions Leadership Conference and the Congar Institute for Ministry Development.
