November's special gift is "Thanksgiving Day." It was first celebrated by a group of very poor immigrants who could never have survived the bitter winter of 1619-20 if not for the native people who pitied and helped them. As one native descendent writes: "These were not merely "friendly Indians," they had already experienced European slave traders raiding their villages for a hundred years or so, and they were wary - but it was their way to give freely to those who have nothing - it was believed that by giving, there would be enough for all." What a great chance we have to be open and generous to the immigrants, who come to this same land 389 years later needing our help!
What a great chance we have to heed our Pope and our Bishops gathered in Rome in October to bring to us an ever clearer reading of the word of God, which "leads to commitment by individuals and communities to the poorest of the poor, who are a sign of the Lord's presence in our midst." (2)
What a great chance we have to fulfill the prayer we pray at every Mass: "In mercy and love unite all your children wherever they may be." (3)

+ Proclaiming the Gospel + Working for Justice + Empowering the Laity
We want to minister to the culturally diverse Catholic population of this country, proclaiming Jesus Christ through evangelization, education and/or Christian formation. We would like to offer a solid Catholic teaching and ministries that speak to the needs of the faith communities, empowering the Laity, dedicating our prayer and ministry to the proclamation of God's Kingdom.
That is why we have become part of a network of religious communities collaborating to assist home mission dioceses in their efforts to develop lay leadership and ministry. This is an initiative of the Home Missions Leadership Conference and the Congar Institute for Ministry Development. READ MORE
