Enjoying surprises from nature

You never know how God might catch your attention.

As I was quietly sharing conversation with someone sitting on the bench located in Victory Noll’s Cemetery we both noticed the beauty of spring and the activities of several birds.  he mouthed to me: “Don’t move.”

A titmouse was hovering on a near-by branch.  Before long it was fluttering near my shoulder on the back of the bench.  And the next thing I knew, it was on top of my head trying to get some nesting material.  When it flew back to the branch, just a few feet away, I turned to face the fearless little bird.  “You’re welcome to a few strands for your nest,” I assured it, “but only take a few at a time, then they’ll come out for you.”

Well, our little titmouse landed on my head over and over without getting any hair.  the gentle tug told me it was taking a little too much in his beak.

And the sensation of the little dancing feet on my head will remain a sweet memory and reminder of the precious relationship we are invited to with all God’s creatures.
