Arbor/Earth Day Celebrated
The annual Arbor/Earth Day celebration took place Friday, April 27, at Victory Noll.
Fourth-grade students from Huntington Catholic School joined with OLVM Sisters in the celebration, which Victory Noll's Cherish the Earth Committee hosted for the 25th time.
The program focused on the need of every individual to respect all that the earth provides and wisdom in being diligent stewards of its natural resources. Part of the mission of the Victory Noll Sisters is education and action in ecological issues.
Sister Irene DeMeulenaere led the morning program, held outside at the Bell Tower in front of the Archbishop Noll Memorial Chapel at Victory Noll.
The students took part in the program with a number of the readings. Each of the students received a small tree sapling to take home and plant. Sister Irene was honored for her work with a Weeping Cherry tree that will be planted on the Victory Noll grounds.
Father Thomas Fahey offered the Blessing of the Tree, then led the congregation for blessings of other areas of the Victory Noll grounds, including the Rose Garden; the fields, pond, wildlife and woods; the Cemetery; and the Peace Garden.
