I grew up in Chimayo, New Mexico under the shadow of the famous El Santuario Shrine, often referred to as the “Lourdes of the Americas.” I joined the Victory Noll Sisters forty years ago, after being inspired by the mobility and “down to earth” spirit of the Victory Noll Missionary Sisters I came to know as a young woman in high school.
I have spent most of my missionary life in the mission field working among the Hispanic people in Southern California. There is nothing more energizing and life-giving than to be a part of enabling a church community to grow into who they are, the Body of Christ. Prior to being elected to Leadership in the Congregation I was privileged to be among the pioneer women to be chosen to lead and administer a parish community without a resident pastor in the Diocese of San Bernardino.
Religious life is faced with many new challenges in these complex times. No one person has the answer to the future of apostolic religious life but I believe that if we continue to ask the right questions and maintain ourselves in the conversation we will come to experience a transformation in ourselves and in others and contribute in the “re-founding” of religious life. I am honored to have been entrusted with this ministry by the members of the Congregation.
